Kenya ready to host 2nd Edition of JAMAFEST

The second edition of the Jumuiya ya Afrika Mashariki Utamaduni Festival (JAMAFEST) will take place in the city of Nairobi from 2nd to 8th August 2015 at the Kenya International Conference Centre..
The festival whose theme is “unleashing the economic potential of cultural and Creative Industries in the EAC” brings together five Partner States in the East African Community namely; Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya, the host.

Addressing the Regional Steering Committee at a Nairobi hotel, the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee Mr. Wenslas Ong’ayo reaffirmed that the Kenya Government was committed to ensure that JAMAFEST 2015 succeeds.
He assured the Regional Committee that the Government of Kenya had secured some funds to host the festival, adding that this would be an ideal opportunity for the people of East Africa to interact away from ordinary bureaucracies.
Mr. Ong’ayo further stated that the festival will strengthen and consolidate the long standing political, economic, social and cultural ties between the peoples of the Partner States thus widening and deepening integration for their mutual benefit.
The EAC has huge cultural resources and talents that have not been fully exploited, therefore this Festival will be a forum to tap and nurture creative talents of artists from EAC Partner States.
It is envisaged that artists will network and do business together, enhance their empowerment and the networking eventually translate to economic benefits to respective Partner States and the region at large.
